Is My Chromebook Test Ready?

Use this guide to determine if your Chromebooks are prepared for testing. Properly preparing devices minimizes technical issues on test day.

To ensure readiness, you only need to verify three specific areas:

  1. Updates: Is the ChromeOS up to date?

  2. Storage: Has the device been wiped recently?

  3. Network: Is the device connected to CISD-EDU?

Check 1: Verify ChromeOS Version

All Chromebooks must be on ChromeOS Version 138 or higher to support testing apps like the Secure Test Browser.

Auto-Update Expiration (AUE)

Some older Chromebooks have reached their Auto-Update Expiration date. These devices cannot be updated to version 138 and are not suitable for testing.

Use the chart below to determine if your specific model is compliant. You can find the model name etched in small letters on the back of the device.
